Separation of non-metallic inclusions from high strength low alloy steel by electromagnetic stirring

نویسندگان

چکیده

Non-metallic inclusions are the impurities that solidified during steel continuous casting. The compositions, sizes and shapes of significantly affect steels' mechanical properties such as ductility, formability toughness. This paper mainly focuses on observation characterization non-metallic in high strength low alloy steels, especially is devoted to homogenization molten within copper mold casters, primary purpose this project discover optimum operation parameters for electro-magnetic stirrers surrounding mold. In paper, were observed characterized, separation from by electromagnetic stirring was specifically studied. nonmetallic billet can be greatly reduced when 300 A current 3 Hz EMS frequency.

The Ballistic Behavior of High Strength, Low Alloy-100 Steel at Sub-zero Temperatures

The ballistic response of the high strength, low alloy (HSLA-100) steel at ambient and temperatures of -400°C, -800°C and -1960°C is investigated in this work. Lambert-jonas equation is used to fit the experimental results into a curve. The effect of quenching on ballistic behavior of HSLA-100 is also studied. The experiments are conducted on 3mm thick rectangular specimens impacted by blunt ti...

Electromagnetic Stirring of Steel: Effect of Stirrer Design on Mixing in Horizontal Electromagnetic Stirring of Steel Slabs

Electromagnetic stirring is widely used in continuous casting of steel as a means to improve homogeneity of cast slabs. Industrial experience has shown that stirrer design and operating conditions have a strong influence on the metallurgical quality of the cast slab. This paper examines the effect of the stirrer current and field frequency on the flow in horizontal EMS of steel slabs. A threedi...
